Title: Director of Creative Communications

Hours: 20

Reports to: Senior Pastor


Overview:

Manage the church’s communications strategy, including church messaging, brand development, internal and external marketing so First United Methodist Church can make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  Oversee the Director of Technical Production and Digital Media Specialist.


Key Responsibilities:

Work with various ministry leaders to strategically promote the ministries of the church.

Work with the Senior Pastor to develop creative and compelling sermon marketing.

Work with ministry team leaders to promote ministries by designing content, graphics, and using strategic methods for communication and branding.

Provide communication for upcoming events, with a specific focus of information for people new to the church and how to connect to the ministries of the church through multiple media (social, print, email, texting, web, etc).

Design and publish the weekly Connections email newsletter, with a focus on promoting the ministries of the church and ways to connect to them.

Manage the church’s website by creating compelling design and uploading current information like: weekly sermons, event announcements, creating consistent design and verbiage through the various pages.

Manage the church signage both internally and externally to create a consistent look and feel.

Maintain the church’s “hub” website on the iPad Kiosk's in the lobby.

Work with outside vendors, newspapers, and others for marketing purposes.

Manage the church’s copiers by monitoring and ordering toner.

Maintain computers, software, and updates on A/V computers.

Manage the communications budget.

Attend staff functions and meetings 


Qualifications: 

Demonstrated commitment to the mission and vision of First United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ

Experience in graphic design, including high proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally experience with Google suite.

Experience in nonprofit marketing and communication, with preferred experience on a church staff.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and have attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and create deadlines and initiate projects without prior direction.


Title: Director of Technical Production

Hours: 10

Reports to: Director of Creative Communications

Overview:

Manage the technical production of worship services: Sunday mornings, special services (Ash Wed, Good Friday, etc) funerals, and weddings in order for First United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing the Audio/Visual volunteer team for all worship services.


Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate with worship leaders to build and execute excellent media presentations for Sunday morning worship and all other scheduled worship services, including special services, weddings, and funerals.

Set up and stream LIVE services on Sunday morning, in coordination with our digital media specialist.

Train volunteers and staff to run A/V equipment where requested.

Schedule volunteers for Sunday morning services.

Provide A/V training and troubleshooting for volunteers and staff.

Film and edit videos for worship or promotional purposes.

Create worship slides in ProPresenter and work with worship leaders to program theater lighting scenes for scheduled worship services.

Maintain computers, software, and updates on A/V computers.

Regularly attend worship planning meetings and staff meetings .

Manage aspects of assigned budget relating to technical production.

Demonstrated commitment to the mission and vision of First United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ

Professional experience in audio/visual production.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without a loss of attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, provide agreed upon deadlines and initiate projects without prior direction.

Desire to empower volunteers to manage growing A/V needs both in the sanctuary and online.


Title:Custodial Maintenance Technician 

Position: Part-Time; hourly non-exempt, 25-hours

Reporting to: Lay Pastor

 

Overview:

This position is responsible for the cleanliness of the building, general maintenance, as well as overseeing and scheduling the routine contracted maintenance of the buildings and grounds. A clean, safe environment is conducive to the mission of the Church of making new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This position will work with and oversee a team of volunteers for regular maintenance and specific projects.


 

Duties

  • Regular sanitation of all restrooms and touch points to ensure cleanliness & health guidelines are met. 
  • Responsible for cleanliness of assigned areas to ensure a well-organized appearance in addition to functionality for staff & church activities.
  • Coordinate sanitation needs with Joyful Noise Director and maintain cleanliness in children’s hallway, in accordance with early childhood education standards.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for repairs/emergencies.
  • Follow up on work orders submitted, troubleshoot problems, and make minor maintenance repairs.
  • Responsible for appropriate and timely use of cleaning equipment, as needed.
  • Manages and orders stock of paper products and janitorial supplies as needed for maximum efficiency.
  • Coordinates with trustees/leadership team in planning and assisting with long term maintenance and other projects, as assigned.
  • Available for Sunday mornings and “high volume” services and special events at church: special worship services, Easter, Vacation Bible School, Advent events, Christmas Eve.
  • Records working hours on manual clock in custodial closet, any off site hours will be recorded in margin of time card.
  • Develop and ensure a facilities maintenance plan.
  • Recruit and coordinate with a team of volunteers for regular maintenance and projects.
  • Maintain record of vendors and the services contracted.


Work Environment

•     Must be able to physically access all work sites required for the position.

•     May require exposure to weather and temperature extremes.

•     Ability to work with cleaning materials, detergents and authorized chemicals and

      cleaning agents.

•     May require exposure to heights.

      

Physical Effort

•     Must have physical mobility to move from place to place on the job.

•     Must have physical strength to handle routine custodian materials and tools.

•     Must have physical strength to handle 50+ lb. objects, considering frequency.
