Outreach

We have many local outreach groups that we collectively refer to as “LoveKC”. Also, we have a signature global outreach program “LoveHati” that partners with the not for profit Partners In Education Hati that was started here at our church in 2011.

LoveKC

We partner with various local ministries, serving vulnerable populations such as the homeless, hungry, young parents, sick, elderly, incarcerated, and children of the incarcerated. We also manage three ministries unique to our church: The Whittier Elementary Ministry (providing support to an underserved school), Garden of Eatin’ (growing produced on church property and is donated to the local food pantry), and Knit and Crochet (making hats, mittens, and prayer shawls to give away to those in need).

LoveHaiti

Our church provides educational opportunities for the most vulnerable Haitian families to acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to boost themselves from poverty and oppression. The program has been in existence since 2011 with amazing success stories.

Weddings

During a wedding ceremony sacred promises are exchanged which reflect God’s sacred covenant with the Church. At First United Methodist a wedding is treated as a worship service. We give thanks to God and celebrate your love for and commitment to each other. Our clergy welcome the opportunity to marry any two people who they Pastor and look forward to working with you to plan your unique ceremony.

Pastoral Care

Our Pastors and trained Care Ministers are available by appointment to meet with individuals, couples, or families to offer not only a listening ear but next steps for further support. We can help put you in touch with mental health clinicians or outside agencies that will help you work through the life challenges that everyone faces.

Funerals

You don’t have to face grief alone. When a death is pending or has occurred, please contact the office so one of our pastors can support you through this time and help you to honor your loved one.

Support Ministries

It’s ok to not be ok. Our church is committed to offering people a place to find support when life is a struggle. We have groups dedicated to recovering from addiction, healing from trauma, finding hope in grief, to name only a few.
