Transforming in Christ

Solving Poverty IS Rocket Science

The scripture makes it clear that one of our primary missions as Christians is to serve the poor. But what exactly does that look like?  From a Biblical perspective, in this 3-session introductory course, we will attempt to 1) define poverty, focusing on the material poor, 2) address the causes of poverty, and 3) discuss methods for working in the field.

Dance, Stand, Run: The God-Inspired Moves of a Woman on Holy Ground

Grace is always good news. But it’s not cheap—true grace compels us to change. That’s where holiness comes in. Dance, Stand, Run charts the discovery that holiness was never meant to be a shaming reminder of what we “should” be doing, but rather a profound privilege of becoming more like Christ. That’s when we start to change the world, rather than being changed by it.

Maturing in Christ

Draw the Circle – The 40 Day Prayer Challenge by Mark Batterson

The 40 day prayer challenge – Have your prayers become stagnant? Do you long to see God move in fresh ways? Are you ready to move to new places in your walk with God? If so, it’s time to take the 40 day prayer challenge and press into God like never before. There is nothing magical about 40 days, but there is something biblical about it. That’s the number of days Jesus spent in the wilderness fasting and praying. It marked a critical chapter in His life – the transition from His earthly father’s business to His heavenly Father’s business. Jesus was tested like never before, but when Jesus returned to Galilee, He wasn’t the same person. You won’t be either. You’ll emerge from this 40 day prayer challenge, just like Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Centered in Christ

The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life In God

The Divine Conspiracy has revolutionized how we think about the true meaning of discipleship. In this classic, one of the most brilliant Christian thinkers of our times, Dallas Willard, skillfully weaves together biblical teaching, popular culture, science, scholarship, and spiritual practice, revealing what it means to “apprentice” ourselves to Jesus. Using Jesus’ Sermon of the Mount as his foundation, Willard masterfully explores life-changing ways to experience and be guided by God on a daily basis, resulting in a more authentic and dynamic faith.

In the study, we will go over:

• Overviews and summaries of each chapter of The Divine Conspiracy

• Scripture meditations to enhance your understanding of the text

• Study questions to facilitate stimulating discussion and reflection

Facilitator: Matt Smith

• Sundays at 6:00 pm, 8-10 sessions starting October 7, Classroom 3

Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School are ongoing groups that meet on Sunday mornings to discuss scripture, pray, and build friendships.

9:30 Sunday Morning Adult Classes

Alamo - Classroom 1

This is a scripture based Sunday school class. The class encourages an open dialogue amongst members, with a focus on applying scripture to modern day issues.

Seeking Good News - Classroom 4

We are a group who like to study the Bible and its relationship to our modern lives. We love discussion and really can agree to disagree if need be. We enjoy being together and welcome new people with open arms. Right now, our favorite lessons are Andy Stanley videos and studies.

New Beginnings - Classroom 3

Our multi-generational class studies the adult curriculum that the United Methodist Church publishes. The lessons cover the historical basis for how the scripture came to be, the symbolism behind worship and worship places, how the Old and New Testaments connect and how it all relates to contemporary life. The resulting discussions are thought provoking and fun, leading to deeper insight in our spiritual lives.

10:45 Sunday Morning Adult Class

Seed Sowers - Classroom 1

A variety of people gather to read different Bible stories and learn how to apply lessons to life experiences.
