Explore the opportunities for care at First United Methodist Church
Our Congregational Care team includes our Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Care Volunteers who are committed to caring for you and walking with you through life’s events. To schedule a personal appointment with a pastor call 816-628-5560.
Because marriage is a covenant which reflects God’s covenant with the Church, we regard the marriage ceremony as a service of worship. In this context, we give thanks to God and celebrate your love for and commitment to each other. Our pastors are happy to work with you to plan your unique ceremony.
PASTORAL CARE - Our Pastor and Associate Pastor are available to meet with individuals, couples, or families to discuss spiritual and relational questions. We can also help you to identify mental health clinicians or outside agencies that will help you work through all sorts of life challenges.
FUNERALS - When a death is pending or has occurred, please contact the office so the pastor can support you through this time and help you to honor your loved one.
Support groups are offered throughout the year. Ongoing groups include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Mothers of Preschoolers (M.O.P.S.), Foster/Adoptive Parent Support, Grief Share, and Cancer Support. Other groups such as Financial Peace, Parenting, and Marriage Enrichment are offered intermittently. Trained Stephen Ministers offer support to individuals who are experiencing transitional times in life—new employment, loss of employment, new baby, grief, divorce, chronic or terminal illness, etc.
